A city with one of the nation’s highest crime rates
Unlike what the city’s visitor bureau will tell you, Myrtle Beach was and still is a haven for all sorts of criminal activity. Myrtle Beach’s crime rate ranks significantly higher than that of most major cities in the nation. In fact in 2015 it was ranked the 12th most dangerous city in America. In 2016 there were 8 murders, 54 rapes and 139 robberies reported.
More information about how often and what kind of crime occurs in Myrtle Beach, with stats from 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998 will be posted here soon.
