Jarid Hardee was a juror at her 1999 trial
We have available Jarid Hardee’s letter to Kimberly Renee Poole dated January 19, 2007. In the letter Jarid Hardee tries to explain and apologize to Kimberly for switching his vote to convict (against his true belief of her being innocent) citing that they were not allowed to smoke during deliberations, that he had nicotine withdrawal and needed to smoke, among other factors relating to the misconduct in the jury room he witnessed. This letter was submitted into evidence for an appeal in 2008, later denied in 2009 for “insufficient evidence”. Jarid Hardee also wrote a book about being a juror at her 1999 trial: Justice or Injustice? What Really Happens In A Jury Room.
